Pablo is a local of Santa Teresa and has been surfing and teaching others how to surf these waves for over 15 years. Focused on technique, Pablo helps beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers improve their skills while maintaining a positive attitude in and outside the water.

The hostel team is happy to assist with arranging tours and excursions, as well as ATV rentals and transportation options for exploring Costa Rica. Akih Pods Hostel combines modern design with stylish pod-style accommodation, catering to the needs of different travelers. With a welcoming and attentive team that knows the local surf scene, guests can count on friendly service and helpful advice to make their surfing getaway a memorable experience.

The facilities are well-maintained, thoughtfully decorated, and furnished with care to create a welcoming atmosphere. Guests can enjoy practical and affordable accommodation without compromising on comfort.
Reception hours: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Guests must be at least 18 years old to stay at the property. Pets are welcome. Air conditioning is available from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Lockers are provided for guests to store their valuables and personal belongings securely. The hostel cannot be held responsible for items that are lost, stolen, or go missing during a guest’s stay.

At Akih Pods Hostel, guests can enjoy a surf camp developed in collaboration with experienced local surf instructors. The program is designed to help you develop your surfing abilities through regular lessons and professional guidance from certified instructors, all while creating a memorable Costa Rican getaway.
Welcome to Santa Teresa Beach, a true surf lover’s destination! Upon arrival at the hostel, you will be greeted by a refreshing welcome smoothie and a friendly team ready to help you settle in. The Akih Pods Hostel staff will introduce you to the facilities, including a yoga deck and a mini jungle gym.
You will receive an informative introduction to the various surf breaks around Santa Teresa Beach and nearby areas. The team will also explain the expectations, terms, and conditions relating to surf equipment. The package includes five surf lessons, each lasting two hours, led by a certified local instructor. Lesson schedules are adjusted according to the tides and weather conditions each day. With an emphasis on both skill development and ocean awareness, instructors will help you build confidence and improve your abilities in an enjoyable and safe learning environment.
Surfers of all experience levels are welcome, with instructors offering individualized advice and guidance to suit each participant's needs. After a surf session and a refreshing shower, guests can enjoy breakfast daily between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m., with serving times adjusted when necessary to accommodate the surf schedule.
You can also maintain your wellness routines during your stay by making use of the hostel's fitness facilities. A yoga deck, yoga mats, and gym equipment are available for personal use. In addition, snorkeling equipment is provided for you to explore the area's natural tide pools and discover more of Santa Teresa's beautiful coastal surroundings.
