Accommodation

During your training, Shambhala becomes more than a place where you practice yoga. You live at the school, practice there, learn there and share everyday life with the people around you.

The rooms are comfortable and welcoming, with accommodation options to suit different preferences and budgets. All the rooms have their own bathroom, shared only with the people staying in your room — not with the whole school.

With accommodation right at the school, your yoga practice, learning and everyday life naturally become part of the same experience. You can walk from your room to the shala, spend time in the garden, take a swim between sessions or simply find a quiet space to rest and recharge.

You’ll also have access to a washing machine, shower towels, a hairdryer in every room, and the sauna.

During the winter months, Shambhala Yoga School offers special sauna evenings — a lovely way to unwind after a day of practice.

Shared Triple Room with Patio

A comfortable shared room with three single beds, private en-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi, and a private patio.

This room has a more sheltered orientation and receives less direct sunlight, so it can feel cooler during the winter months. If you prefer a brighter, warmer room, this triple room near the shala may be a better choice.

Shared Triple Room

A bright and comfortable shared room with three single beds, private en-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi, and towels.

Located close to the yoga shala, it receives more natural sunlight and has a warmer feel — a lovely choice if you enjoy bright spaces and being close to the heart of the school.

Shared Double Room with Terrace

A comfortable shared room with two single beds, private en-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi and towels.

The highlight is your private terrace, offering a beautiful outdoor space to relax and enjoy the mountain and ocean views.

Single Room

A cosy private room with a single bed, Wi-Fi, and towels, offering a little more privacy and your own space to rest after a day of practice.

The room has access to a terrace with beautiful views towards the Atlantic Ocean. The bathroom is shared with one other person.

Food

Shambhala Yoga School believes that some of the most beautiful moments are the simple ones you share with others. Food is part of that experience at Shambhala. The spacious kitchen and shared dining areas naturally become places to connect, talk, laugh, and enjoy time together.

Shambhala Yoga School carefully chooses fresh, sattvic vegetarian ingredients, with a focus on seasonal and locally sourced produce whenever possible. They love supporting local farmers and bringing the flavours of Tenerife into your everyday life at Shambhala. They also grow some of their own produce in their garden, including delicious Canarian bananas.

Fresh ingredients are provided throughout your training, giving you the freedom to prepare nourishing meals and enjoy them together with your group.

Vegan and gluten-free options can be accommodated, as well as other dietary requirements and allergies. Just let them know in advance so they can make sure the ingredients provided are suitable for you.

Food is not just about nourishment. It is another opportunity to slow down, share, connect, and feel at home.

Program

Yoga, sunshine, and a different pace of life

There is something special about learning Yin when you also have time to slow down outside the practice.

At Shambhala, your training takes place in the north of Tenerife, surrounded by mountains, ocean, and the quiet rhythm of island life. Between practices and learning, there is space to sit in the garden, swim, walk, explore the island, or simply do nothing for a while.

Your week here is not only about completing 50 hours of training. It is also about giving yourself time to practise, learn, rest, and enjoy being somewhere different — with good people, sunshine, and yoga at the centre of your days.

Go deeper into Yin yoga

Yin yoga offers a quieter way to practise. Instead of moving quickly from one posture to another, you stay, breathe, and observe, giving yourself time to notice what is happening in the body and mind.

During the training, you’ll explore the principles behind Yin yoga and the relationship between the physical body, breath, energy, and awareness. You’ll also discover the ideas of Yin and Yang, Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians and the five elements, and how these can enrich the way you practise and teach.

It is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Yin, not only as a style of yoga, but as a practice of slowing down, listening and becoming more aware.

Who is this training for?

This training is for anyone who wants to explore Yin yoga more deeply and understand how to practice and teach it with greater confidence and awareness.

It can be a good fit if you are:

  • A yoga teacher who wants to bring Yin yoga into your classes

  • A yoga teacher looking for Continuing Education and new teaching tools

  • A regular yoga practitioner who wants to deepen their understanding of Yin

  • Interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians, acupressure and the energetic aspects of yoga

  • Curious about teaching Yin yoga, even if you are still finding your own direction as a teacher

  • Looking for a small, fully in-person training where you can learn closely with your teachers and group

Whether you come to deepen your own practice, add Yin to your teaching, or simply spend a week learning something new in Tenerife, there is space for you here.

Why only 9 students?

Shambhala keeps their Yin yoga trainings small on purpose. With a maximum of 9 students and 2 teachers, there is time to see you, listen to your questions, and give you personal guidance throughout the training. You can explore the postures in your own body, try different approaches, and receive feedback as you learn.

You won’t get lost in a large group or feel that you have to keep up with everyone else. There is space to ask questions, make mistakes, take your time, and learn from the people around you.

For Shambhala, a small group is not just a number. It is part of how they create a more personal and relaxed way of learning.

Learn with the people behind the school

There is something different about learning in a school where the people who created it are also personally involved in your training.

At Shambhala, the founders are deeply involved in the school every day. Andrea, who teaches the training, shares her experience, observes your practice, answers your questions, and is part of everyday life at the school. Ronny takes care of the school behind the scenes and is there throughout your stay, making sure the practical side of things runs smoothly.

The teachers working alongside Andrea are also closely involved in the training and in the school itself, rather than simply coming in to deliver a programme and leave.

They are personally invested in the experience you have. They want to get to know you, understand how you learn, and be present throughout your time at Shambhala.

Because even in one week, relationships matter.

What you’ll learn

Yin yoga is a quiet practice, but there is a lot to discover beneath the stillness. During the training, you’ll build a deeper understanding of Yin and develop the knowledge and practical skills to practise and teach it with confidence.

Yin Yoga principles

Understand the foundations of Yin yoga, the relationship between Yin and Yang, and the principles that make Yin different from more dynamic styles of yoga.

Functional anatomy

Explore how the body responds to Yin postures, why the same posture can look different from one person to another, and how to adapt the practice to individual bodies.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Discover the relationship between Yin yoga, the meridian system, the five elements, and the energetic qualities traditionally associated with them.

Acupressure

Learn simple acupressure techniques and explore ways to incorporate them thoughtfully into a Yin yoga practice.

Sequencing and teaching

Learn how to create balanced Yin classes, choose and adapt postures, work with props, and guide students through a practice with clarity and presence.

The 50-hour Yin Yoga and Acupressure Program

Your training week begins with arrival on Sunday, giving you time to settle in, meet the group and arrive at Shambhala before the teaching begins.

From Monday to Saturday, you’ll explore the foundations of Yin yoga through theory, practice, teaching, and personal experience. The program brings together the physical, energetic and philosophical aspects of Yin, giving you a deeper understanding of the practice and the tools to teach Yin yoga with confidence.

Yin Yoga history and philosophy

Explore the origins and development of Yin yoga and the ideas that have shaped the practice. You’ll look at the principles behind Yin and how they influence the way you practise and teach.

Taoism, Yin, and Yang

Discover the Taoist understanding of Yin and Yang and how these complementary qualities relate to yoga, movement, rest, and balance.

Yin yoga and functional anatomy

Explore how Yin postures affect the body, with particular attention to connective tissues and the different ways bodies experience the same posture. You’ll learn to observe, adapt, and work with individual differences rather than trying to make every body fit the same shape.

The five elements, emotions, and meridians

Explore the Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective on the five elements, their associated emotions, and the meridian system. You’ll discover how these ideas connect to the energetic aspects of Yin yoga.

Acupressure

Learn about acupressure points and explore how they can be incorporated into a Yin yoga practice, adding another dimension to your understanding of energy and the body.

Yin vs Yang Yoga

Understand the differences between passive Yin practices and more dynamic Yang styles of yoga, and explore how the two approaches can complement one another.

Yin Yoga postures, sequencing, and teaching

Study classical Yin yoga postures and learn how to structure and sequence a class. You’ll practise teaching, explore different ways of adapting postures, and develop the confidence to guide students through a Yin practice.

Meditation and pranayama

Each training day includes meditation and pranayama, giving you space to experience the quieter qualities of the practice for yourself and explore how breath and awareness can support Yin yoga.

Your week at Shambhala

Your Yin training begins with a relaxed arrival on Sunday, giving you time to settle in, meet the group, and make yourself at home at Shambhala.

From Monday to Saturday, your days are centred around Yin yoga, learning and practice. There is time to study, ask questions, practise teaching, and share the experience with your group, while also having space to breathe and enjoy being in Tenerife.

On Sunday, you have time to enjoy your last morning at Shambhala before heading home.

It is a week with yoga at its centre, but not yoga every minute. There is space for learning, connection, rest, and simply being somewhere different.

Here's a glimpse into a typical day:

  • 07:30 - 09:00 Vinyasa yoga practice and meditation

  • 09:00 - 10:15 Breakfast

  • 10:15 - 13:00 Yin yoga asana lab

  • 13:00 - 15:00 Lunch

  • 15:00 - 16:30 Theory class

  • 16:30 - 17:30 Practice time Yin yoga

  • 17:30 - 18:30 Yin yoga practice

  • 19:00 - 20:30 Dinner

  • 22:30 - 06:30 Lights off

Time to breath, explore and recharge

Your training is important, but so is everything around it. Between classes, you have time to slow down, and enjoy Tenerife at your own pace. Sit in the garden with a coffee, take a walk, swim in the ocean, explore the island, or simply find a quiet place to rest.

Shambhala is in the north of Tenerife, surrounded by mountains, the ocean, and the slower rhythm of island life. You can spend your free time however feels right for you — exploring, connecting with the group, or doing very little at all.

Sometimes, stepping away from your usual routine is part of the learning too.
